Summer Activities for Kids
1. Hiking - Get your little ones moving with a memorable-and easy-hike through some of the beautiful trails in Telluride. Our favorites include the Bear Creek Trail and the Jud Wiebe Trail. Your kids will love the fresh air, wonderful sunshine, and beautiful wildflowers that Telluride nature hikes bring.
2. Mountain Village Adventure Activity Center - Take a short trip on up to Mountain Village, and let the kids enjoy themselves at the Adventure Activity Center. The different activities offered are sure to give your kids an energy rush but ready for a nap at the end of the day. There's a rope course, a bungee trampoline, and much more!
3. Telluride Town Park - Telluride Town Park has everything you need for an incredible day in the sun. It has everything from playgrounds and skate parks to swimming pools and beach volleyball. You and the kids can enjoy a relaxing day by the heated swimming pool or have some fun at the 'Imagination Station,' which offers swings, slides, bridges, tunnels, and more.
4. Festivals - Telluride is known for its wide variety of festivals, especially during the summer. Though some are definitely not fit for children, there are plenty that are kid-friendly. The Bluegrass Festival is perfect for little kids-there are arts and crafts, face painting, and theatre performances. There's also the Balloon Festival, which draws in a big crowd of families for its beauty.
5. Telluride Historical Museum - If you and the kids need some time indoors, then the Telluride Historical Museum, located in an old hospital building, is a terrific option for you. 6. Telluride Ski School - Take the gondola, America's first free public transportation of its kind, up to Mountain Village's Telluride Ski School. Parents can hit the slopes as the children get their lessons. Grouped by age, the children will experience skill-specific learning-before you know it, your kids will be better on the slopes than you!
7. Ice-Skating & Sleigh Rides - Of course, Telluride has other winter activities for the children to enjoy apart from skiing. There are both indoor and outdoor skating rinks at Telluride Town Park where you and the kids can try your hand-or foot-at gliding on the ice. The outdoor rink also has a nice warming hut if it gets too cold for you and the children. Afterward, book a sleigh ride, and enjoy the snowy evening sky.
8. Gorrono Ranch Beach - A beach in winter? Gorrono Ranch beach is a different experience all together. Under the Village Express 4 Chair lies Gorrono Ranch; full of live music and delicious food, both you and the kids will enjoy it. Hang out in the snow and sunshine, and the children can sled on a nearby hill!
