Just a free gondola ride away from Telluride, Mountain Village is also a premier vacation destination amid the towering peaks in Colorado. When you decide on one of the many Mountain Village vacation rentals, you are choosing a luxurious base for exploring the gorgeous scenery and engaging in the plentiful area activities. From condos to luxury villas, there are all kinds of rental options to make your Mountain Village vacation a fabulous experience. Planning a wedding, a honeymoon or couple’s getaway? Maybe a multigenerational gathering or a long weekend away with family or friends? Renting a Telluride Mountain Village vacation home is convenient and cost-effective, and it can enhance your overall travel experience.

Overview of Mountain Village Vacation Rentals

The town of Mountain Village is peaceful and more secluded than Telluride, but it still offers a variety of luxurious property types. You may prefer to look at condos, a loft, townhouse, or penthouse if you’re going for a long weekend or if your party is small. Villas can accommodate larger groups and have more space and amenities. The true adventurer may want something more rustic like a chalet or cabin or want to be closer to ski slopes or hiking trails. Maybe you just need a place with great views and welcomes your pet.

Regardless of the property type you choose, staying in Mountain Village gives you the opportunity to enjoy outdoor adventures and at the end of the day unwind, relax, and take in the scenic overload and picture-perfect views from the comfort of your own private Telluride mountain home. Depending on your price point, time of year (peak or off-peak season), requirements, and priorities, there is a Mountain Village vacation rental to suit everyone’s dreams and desires.

Mountain Village Vacation Rental Options

Once you’ve determined that the scenic beauty surrounding the town of Mountain Village is the main reason for your stay in Colorado, you need to decide which type of rental is best for you. There are a few considerations that will affect your decision: party size, price, availability, amenities, location, style, and your overall feeling about the place.

If you will travel on your Telluride vacation with a large group of family members or friends, you may want to select from an array of private homes or villas. They have lots of square feet to explore, and some can accommodate as many as 23 people. Additionally, these grand mansions may offer home theaters, hot tubs, game rooms, multiple dining areas and possibly a bowling alley! Views are exceptional, and some are ski-in/ski-out. Of course, these properties will be at the high end of anyone’s budget. Remember, though, that if you have a large party, it will be more cost-efficient in the long run to rent a private vacation home rather than stay in a hotel.

Condo rentals offer a cozy retreat for a couple or small family who prefers to have everything within easy reach (pools, hot tubs, restaurants, etc.). Stay in a penthouse with a fireplace that is close to both the slopes and the village center or a slope-side condo with ski-in/ski-out access and unmatched views. Some guests want to get a real feeling for the landscape and natural elements of their chosen destinations.

Renting a log cabin or a stunning mountain lodge with easy ski access or a small cabin in the woods with a private hot tub could be your idea of paradise in Colorado. Mountain Village vacation rentals come in all styles and sizes, and chances are there’s at least one that ticks all the boxes on your wish list.

Benefits of Choosing Mountain Village Vacation Rentals

If you want a run-of-the-mill vacation with standard amenities, you can always book a hotel. There’s not much space, and in most cases, a room at one hotel looks pretty much the same as any other one. You’ll have to pay occupancy taxes, sales tax, room service fees, concierge fees, bell service fees, and maybe even $50 or so per night to park.

Mountain Village, Colorado vacation rentals offer a better option. It’s more cost-effective—especially for families or large groups—and a much more enjoyable alternative, as our Telluride vacation rentals blog shows. There’s the rental price for your entire stay. That’s it. No charge to park or to have the concierge book dinner reservations for you.

When you choose a Mountain Village vacation home, you have your own private home—and concierge service—along with a top-of-the-line kitchen (isn’t walking to the fridge for a midnight snack easier than waiting for room service?) and amenities (think large, gourmet kitchens and multiple living/gathering areas) to make your stay more like a sanctuary. It’s just you and your family enjoying the scenery and activities, like, perhaps swimming in your own pool, soaking in the hot tub, having a nightcap in front of the fireplace or taking a nature walk as you step out of your front door.

Popular Areas for Mountain Village Vacation Rentals

Although Mountain Village is a small town, its neighborhoods offer different kinds of vacation home rental experiences. Staying in downtown Mountain Village puts you in the heart of local attractions, including restaurants and shopping.

If you choose from the list of slopeside properties, you’ll find yourself within easy access to ski runs for an unparalleled ski-in/ski-out experience.

Those who are looking for Mountain Village luxury vacation rentals in the spring, summer or fall may prefer a riverside location—ideal for hiking, canoeing or fishing.

For some, that still isn’t remote enough. Mountain Village offers some vacation rentals in even more remote, secluded areas that are perfect if you want to get away from 21st century life and commune with nature.

Regardless of the type of Mountain Village vacation rental you choose, you will have top-shelf amenities, comfort and scenic views at every turn.

How to Choose the Right Mountain Village Vacation Rental

No two families have the same needs or preferences when choosing a vacation rental. Fortunately, Mountain Village has properties of all sizes, amenities and locations.

Once you’ve decided that Mountain Village is where you want to go on your vacation, sit down and make a list of what you need—as well as what you want. Prioritize your requirements. Think about the basics first—the size of your group, your budget and whether you have special needs (cribs, handicap facilities, etc.). After that, consider what would make the perfect rental—a fireplace? Hot tub? Pool? Balconies? Skiing just outside the door? Decide how much space you need and what activities you want to engage in.

Here’s a basic checklist to use when deciding on a vacation rental property:

  • Type of property: private home, condo, townhouse, cabin
  • Size of property: number of bedrooms, bathrooms, gathering places
  • Amenities: hot tubs, fireplaces, balconies, game room, home theater, pool, gourmet kitchen, etc.
  • Location: downtown, near slopes, remote
  • Budget
  • Season and activities: hiking, fishing, skiing and winter sports, festivals
  • Special needs: wedding facilities, corporate or family celebration, etc.
